BUN Test
A Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) test measures the amount of urea nitrogen in whole blood.
A Blood Urea Nitrogen (BUN) test is a common veterinary blood test used to diagnose or monitor kidney diseases, and is often part of a comprehensive metabolic panel.
It measures the level of urea in the blood, a waste product produced by the liver during protein metabolism and eliminated by the kidneys.
Product Description
The blood urea nitrogen test is primarily used to evaluate kidney function in a wide range of circumstances, to help diagnose kidney disease, and to monitor people with acute or chronic kidney dysfunction or failure.
Increased BUN levels suggest impaired kidney function. This may be due to acute or chronic kidney disease, damage, or failure.
